Working Together

How do we get started?

After our initial phone call, we’ll send you a short pre-discovery questionnaire. This helps us understand your goals, content needs, design preferences, and anything else that might shape the build. Based on that and our chat, we’ll prepare a proposal and quote.

What kind of websites do you build?

We specialise in small business websites for Kiwi businesses. That includes portfolios, product or service showcases, online stores, event sites, and non-profit websites.

We don’t take on large-scale enterprise projects or highly custom software builds — but if we think your project is outside our scope, we’ll let you know upfront and point you in the right direction.

Who will build my website?

We’re not a big agency — and that’s a good thing.

Big Mark manages every project personally and is hands-on from start to finish — from discovery and design through to build and handover. You won’t be passed from person to person or left wondering who’s doing what.

When needed, we bring in trusted contractors and vendors to help — including graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and copywriters - but most of the work is handled directly by Big Mark himself.

What do you need from us?

If you have them, we’ll need your logo, photos, graphics, branding guidelines, written content, links to videos, and access to your domain registrar and current hosting (if any).

If you don’t have any of that — don’t worry. We can help with content creation, copy, hosting advice, and more.

Will I be able to update the website?

Absolutely. All the platforms we work with make it easy to update text, images, video, and most content areas.

We also provide resources, walkthroughs and helpful guides so you feel confident managing your site over time — or you can sign up for an ongoing maintenance plan and let us take care of it for you.

Will you help us maintain the website?

Yes — we absolutely can.

We stand behind the quality of every site we build, and we offer lifetime email support if anything breaks or goes wrong. While this doesn’t cover ongoing changes or technical fixes, we’re always just an email away if something’s not working as it should.

If you’d prefer a more hands-off approach, we also offer an annual maintenance package. This includes:

  • Monthly audits and checkups
  • Content updates
  • Plugin and software updates (for WordPress)
  • Uptime monitoring
  • Email and phone support when you need it

It’s a great option if you want peace of mind and priority support. [Click here for more details.]

Pricing & Payments

How much will a new website cost?

It depends on what you need — but we’ve got options to suit most budgets.
Our small business packages range from $1000 to $10,000 + GST, with a clearly defined scope based on real websites we’ve built before. The average price for a new website is $3500 + GST.

If your budget’s tight, we offer affordable packages designed to get you online without the extras. If you need something more custom or complex, we can scale up to match.

Are there any other ongoing costs besides building the website?

Yes — building the website is just one part of getting online. There are a few other essentials to budget for:

  • Domain name – This is your web address (like yourbusiness.co.nz). Domains usually cost around $25–$40/year and are paid directly to a domain registrar (we can help you register one if needed).
  • Email hosting – If you want professional email (like hello@yourbusiness.co.nz), you’ll need to pay for email hosting. We don’t provide this ourselves, but we can point you in the right direction.
  • Website hosting – This depends on the platform your site is built on:
    • Webflow and Shopify include hosting as part of their monthly/annual plans.
    • WordPress sites are self-hosted, so you’ll need to set up hosting with a provider (we’ll recommend the right one based on your needs).

We’ll walk you through all of this so there are no surprises — and we can help set it all up for you.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes - we require a 50% deposit to confirm your project in our schedule. The remaining balance is due once the website is built and ready to launch.

Timelines & Process

How long will it take to build?

That depends on where you're at.
If you’ve got everything ready — content, copy, design assets — we can get you online in just a few days.

But most projects take time to get right. A typical build takes around 4–8 weeks, including discovery, design, development, launch, and handover. Some complex projects have taken much longer — especially when there are moving parts or shifting goals.

We’ll always work with your timeline and keep things clear along the way.

What is your process?

If you decide to go ahead, we’ll book a discovery call over Google Meet. This is where we dig deeper into your business, goals, audience, and any inspiration or reference points you have. We may also do some extra research afterwards to help shape our approach.

Then it’s on to design, where we’ll explore the look and feel, gather your content, and develop full layouts. Once everything’s approved, we move into build mode — creating your site using best practices, modern frameworks, and accessibility in mind.

After a pre-launch audit and your final sign-off, we’ll launch the website and provide a full handover.

Platforms & Hosting

What platforms do you build on?

We build websites using Webflow, Shopify, or WordPress.

A platform is just the toolset your website is built on — it affects how the site is hosted, how it's updated, and what features are available. The right platform depends on your needs, your budget, and how you want to manage your site going forward.

We’ll help you choose the right one.

What is Webflow?

Webflow is a modern website platform built for clean design and fast performance. It’s all-in-one — your site is built and hosted right on Webflow’s powerful infrastructure, so everything just works. You can easily update content without touching the design or layout.

What is Shopify?

Shopify is the world’s most popular eCommerce platform — designed specifically for selling online. Your store is built and hosted entirely in Shopify, so it’s fast, secure, and easy to manage. You get everything you need in one place — from product listings to payments and shipping.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a flexible, open-source platform that powers more than 40% of the internet. It can be hosted with a range of providers, which gives you more control and often lower costs. It’s a great option for smaller or more affordable builds, especially when paired with trusted plugins and page builders.
